Executive Director, Ambulatory Surgical Network

With a mission to advance knowledge and improve health through patient care, research, and the education of trainees in an inclusive culture that embraces diversity, fosters innovation, stimulates critical thinking, supports lifelong learning, and sustains the legacy of excellence, the University of Pennsylvania Health System (Penn Medicine) is launching a search for the Executive Director (ED), Ambulatory Surgical Network. Penn Medicine seeks an entrepreneurial, collaborative, and strategic leader to start a new ambulatory surgical center enterprise.
The new ED will report to Penn Medicine’s Chief Operating Officer and will:
· Provide leadership and the administration of operations for all Penn Medicine ambulatory surgical centers/facilities.
· Lead the acquisitions and launch of new facilities to drive strategic growth within the Pennsylvania and New Jersey regions.
· Ensure alignment with Penn Medicine’s strategic and operational goals and priorities.
· Deliver consistent quality and cost-effective care and ensuring the patient experience is exceptional.
· Manage the financial performance of the ambulatory surgical centers along with reporting, implementing, and maintaining annual operating plans and budget.
The ED position is a compelling opportunity for a successful ambulatory surgical center executive to work at a world-class institution to start something new from scratch. With a proven history of developing relationships, exercising an entrepreneurial orientation, inspiring teams, and getting results, the new ED will be given the financial and human capital resources to be successful.

Key Responsibilities

Reporting to the Executive Director, this role is pivotal in driving donor engagement, securing major gifts, expanding funding sources, and supporting the organization’s mission to empower low-income people with disabilities.
About LCD
Founded in 1987, LCD is a mid-sized legal services agency headquartered in Philadelphia, PA. LCD serves over 1,900 clients annually, providing free legal representation to low-income individuals with disabilities, addressing legal barriers that impact health, independence, and quality of life. Its innovative Medical-Legal Partnership (MLP) Initiative proactively identifies and resolves health-harming legal issues in collaboration with healthcare teams, driving better outcomes for clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement fundraising strategies, including donor engagement and major gift solicitation.
- Lead annual giving campaigns and build a major gift pipeline.
- Oversee grant writing, reporting, and compliance.
- Strategize and execute special events, including LCD’s annual fundraising event.
- Collaborate with the board to increase engagement in fundraising efforts.
Qualifications
- At least 10 years of fundraising experience, including major gifts and donor stewardship.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Experience with DEI initiatives and promoting inclusive practices.
- Grant writing and event management expertise preferred.

Reporting directly to the Executive Director, this pivotal role ensures LCD’s mission to empower low-income people with disabilities and the deaf and hard of hearing is achieved through strategic leadership and advocacy.

Legal Team Management: Lead and support a seven-person legal team, overseeing intake processes, case distribution, and client representation. Provide mentorship and manage performance goals for team members.
Program Development and Evaluation: Enhance training programs, refine data collection and evaluation processes, and share best practices across LCD’s MLP sites.
Community Involvement and Advocacy: Cultivate relationships with regional legal services and healthcare partners. Advocate for systemic change and represent LCD’s mission at local and national forums.
Qualifications
- JD from an accredited law school with active Pennsylvania law license and at least 8 years of legal experience.
- Minimum 3 years in a managerial role, with a proven ability to inspire and develop high-performing teams.
- Demonstrated commitment to serving underserved populations and advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- Exceptional communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
